Renewable energy is a term which is being taught extensively during school life, college life, it is being talked among the governments, by the media, eco – friendly supporters etc. For those who are not sure exactly what the term means, a renewable energy is a form of energy that is obtained from the natural resources of the earth and they do not exhaust after a certain period such as fossil fuels. The reason why the world is looking at it as the future is that the emissions are less from renewable energy and the supply is endless; it can be harnessed by the wind, the sun, and even during a sewer blockage. This, in the end, can alter a lot of geo – politics for good.
Many countries around the world have both private and government owned renewable energy farms which supply a significant amount of energy in a specific region or area. More such farms are in development in many regions around the world where these renewable resources can be cultivated with maximum efficiency. At the same time, significant researches are contributing to the investment made on these farms.
Solar Energy Farms
Solar energy is derived from the sun and the energy is cultivated and used through solar panels. These panels are typically made of silicon and photo–voltaic cells, which convert the radiation energy from the sun to electricity.
Solar farms typically consist of vast stretches of solar panels, more than thousands of them lined towards the sun during the day. The total energy accumulated from a big solar farm can easily power a moderately sized town. Wind energy as the name suggests, is the energy derived from the kinetic energy of the wind. The wind when striking the fan rotates it, which in turn, rotates a turbine inside the wind – mill generating electricity.
Wind energy is a very clean form of energy source and wind farms, like the solar farms have thousands of windmills lined up. These wind farms can exist in mountain regions as well, where the wind currents are typically higher. Since they are mostly built away from the cities which require the more amount of energy, there would be transmission lines connecting the farms to the cities. The cost optimization for this downside of wind energy needs to be done to ensure more usage of the farms in the future.
Hydro – farms
Large dams in many regions of the world have been converted to hydro – electric power generating units which provide enough energy to run nearby towns. It is the energy harnessed from flowing water, which runs a turbine that leads to energy generation. Like the other forms of renewable energy, this does not produce any pollution and the farms can be built on both large scale and small scale basis.
The only factor is that more research needs to be done to optimize the amount of energy invested at the beginning so that it can lead to greater saving of cost on investments. So, these are some of the most common renewable energy farms which can be found across the world. There are many other types such as the geo – thermal farms which are although effective, are only found in some regions which are also known as geo – thermal hot spots. The foundation concept of the farms remains the same and in almost all the cases, more advancement is required to optimize the energy and resources used to produce the energy and transmit the energy to where it is required the most.

Wave energy is created from the waves that are produced from the oceans. The energy from the wave is renewable, environmentally friendly and causes no damage to air. Biomass energy is produced from organic material and is commonly used across the world.
